My sweetie loves orchids. We’ve learned alot about them over the years. Initially, I treated them like cut flowers, tossing the plant as soon as the blooms faded (I can hear the gasps from those with green thumbs!). At the moment, there are gorgeous white, yellow, coral, fuschia, and purple ones in bloom in front of our kitchen window. Of course they do require some care… Thursday is orchid watering day here. As I was working on this letter, my sweetie came around the corner saying, “I’ve made a bit of a disaster, you need to move.” Turns out the watering got a tad out of control. He had a kitchen towel and was mopping up water headed into our family room - that’s at least eight feet from the plants! My fingers are currently crossed - I’m hoping there isn’t any water dripping on his pool table downstairs. I’m afraid to look! Good thing the sewing room is further from the kitchen!

Wishing you a colorful, dry week,

Mary Beth

This Saturday (4-5-25) those in our beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. This month we move on to the third block in the series - sharing both the new kit and construction information during the session. Don’t forget your block from last month for show and tell - see you Saturday?

The Three Rivers quilt show has begun! I hope you have a chance to visit over the next couple days (the show runs April 3rd to 5th). There are amazing quilts hung - I got a tiny sneak peek yesterday. Congratulations to everyone involved in the show - from guild members to those who have entered their quilts - we are so very lucky to be able to attend such a marvelous event!!!

Oh my gosh, there is new fabric everywhere! So it might seem strange for me to mention solids, but there are some wonderful ones rolling in. As we add solids from more companies, the color range continues to expand. In each case the “hand” (which refers to the feel and weight of a fabric) is exceptional. As you look through the solid section in the shop you will find pieces from Andover, Free Spirit, Kaufman, Quilting Treasures, Riley Blake, and several other companies. This might just be the moment to expand your quilty palette!!!

All the pieces in Anna Maria’s newest collection, Indelible, have arrived! In this group, her iconic line drawings are presented in absolutely glorious colors. If all the bolts in the group are together they make a very classy rainbow (some of the prints are at the quilt show at the moment - hopefully there will be some left come Monday!). You can see the fabrics used in several different ways, on both Northcott’s and Anna Maria’s websites. I’m trying to decide which pieced block pattern to make with them - I’m having great fun making a plan and think cutting into them will be just as much fun!!! Fabric $11.20 per yard

I want to repeat my thank you to everyone who has worked, and is working, on our current charitable sewing efforts. Quilts for Comfort Cases have begun to arrive in the shop - each is a special piece that will be shared with a child entering the foster system. And, your tote bags made it to Mississippi. To say they were well received would be an understatement. They send heartfelt thanks to each maker.

And thank you for visiting for PB&J day - the food pantry will be thrilled!

Watch for more event news and upcoming class information in next week’s letter!

Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
