Youngest was standing with a group of coworkers in a government building earlier in the week. One of the women wondered why there was a big mouse or something standing further down the hall. Youngest and the third woman glanced in the direction she was pointing, and then excitedly made a beeline for the PBS “celebrity”. They couldn’t figure out how the other women had mistaken Daniel Tiger for a mouse! Each got a photo with Daniel. Her coworker explained her four year old was going to be super excited when he saw the photo - he’d definitely want to go on her next work trip. Youngest, on the other hand, used the photo to see if she could move up the ranks of favorite aunt in our family. The crowd has told her in the past that she is their fourth favorite aunt - that might not be too bad a ranking, if they actually had more than three aunts! Thank goodness they don’t rank favorite hobbies that way or I might be repossessing the sewing machines!

Hope you meet some interesting characters this week,

Mary Beth

PS Happy first day of spring!!!

Another month means another block in our 2025 applique series! This Saturday (3-22-25) those in our applique Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. Our focus will be the third block in the series, the techniques used to make the block, and new things in the shop that you might find useful. We can’t wait to see your block from last month!

QC 2025 Foundation Piecing Block of the Week Meeting

Saturday ~ March 22nd ~ 1:00pm

We began our block of the week series, using Leila Gardunia’s Scrappy Triangles, in mid January. The goal was to make two blocks per week (some of you have made far more and others, like me, are a “tad” behind!). Now that we are halfway through the project, it is time to get together to take a look at what we have accomplished, and to make plans for getting to the end of the series! Bring the blocks you have made, your questions, and your setting ideas - there is so much to share!

PB&J Day at QC!

Wednesday ~ April 2nd

Some holidays are sweeter than others… How about visiting the shop to celebrate one we love, PB&J day?! We mark the day each year with a new table runner pattern that celebrates the beloved treat. You may purchase the little pattern, but far better to get it and a jelly color fat quarter by trading a jar of peanut butter and/or jelly for the local food pantry! They so appreciate your donations!

We would like to thank everyone for sewing with us over the last few weeks! We’ve begun projects for Comfort Cases and other causes during the sessions - your enthusiasm and willingness to work on a variety of projects is inspiring. We love stitching with all of you!!!

QC Simple Whatnots Club

Thursday ~ March 27th

Due to circumstances way beyond our control, I’m sorry to say, our March “session” will need to be a “grab and go” version of our meetings. When you stop in you will be able to take a look at the month's project (Corner Stones) in progress, and you will receive the pattern, a letter with information about the project and about things going on in the shop, as well as an additional little goodie. If you are registered for the larger quilt project, Scatter Garden, you will find all you need to begin ready for you, too. So sorry to offer the program this way this month!

The newest collection to arrive from Benartex is the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of spring! Calypso features blossoms, butterflies and swirls in green, aqua, teal and blue. The prints will add a bright pop of color to your world - consider using them for your next 3 Yard quilt project! $13.00 per yard. See these online...
