Some salesmen in the sewing industry seem a bit perturbed when I point out I need a bit of warning in order to work with them during a visit to the shop. I really do want to order new fabrics, but let’s be honest, I would much rather help you select fabrics for your next project! Two weeks' notice seems reasonable to me… I’ve decided I’m not unreasonable after talking with our youngest as she scheduled work meetings. She shared that she had recently told a friend she needed at least four months' notice to fit a trip into her calendar (you can imagine how well that went over!). As we talked, her computer filled in weekly meetings from now until, get this, January of 2030!!! The only thing I can imagine scheduling that far out would be quilting time!

Wishing you a low stress week, with very few meetings!

This Saturday (2-15-25) those in our applique Saturday Sampler program will meet upstairs in the shop at 9:00am. We will share shop news and the second kit in the Red and Green Reimagined series. We will also review the technique information we shared in the first session, adding more hand applique tips to the presentation. The session will be followed by a “hands on” applique demo at our side counter. There is so much to learn when it comes to hand applique, but it is so worth the effort!

New ~ QC Saturday Demo Series!

Hand Applique ~ Saturday, February 15th, 10:00am - 11:30am

Machine Piecing ~ Saturday, February 22nd, 12:00pm - 1:30pm

There are many, many ways to learn quilting skills. One of our favorites is to watch, and ask questions, as someone is actually stitching! Thus, we have begun a new demo series. We will share demo details in these newsletters as topics are added from week to week. You can stop in at any point during a demo session, as we will repeat the information until we’ve answered all your questions! We are beginning with a hand applique demo this week (focused on the basics of leaves, stems and circles) and a machine piecing demo next week (we will provide commentary as we work several pieced blocks - so many important “little” details to watch!). Consider stopping in - you never know which tip will make all the difference!

2024 QC Block of the Month Show and Tell!

Sunday ~ February 16th ~ 1:00pm

I’m excited - I can’t wait to see your block of the month projects on Sunday! We shared so many wonderful programs last year - from Saturday Sampler projects, to those we did in our Simple Whatnots Club, to our block of the week, and all the wonderful ones from Marcus, Northcott and other companies. Finish up a top (from last year, or earlier!) and you are ready for show and tell, well, almost ready - please let us know you plan to show a quilt so we can have a little thank you gift ready for you!

QC Christmas Club

Wednesday ~ February 19th ~ 10:30am

The first Christmas Club meeting in 2025 is coming up! During each session we enjoy member show and tell, we look at patterns for items that would make great gifts, and we present a new project from our “text” (Annie’s Quilted Projects For All Seasons). We will focus on the Patchwork Heart table runner from the book this time, covering different ways to construct the runner, and how to adapt the directions for various sizes. I love how my version is working out - I think you are going to love yours, too.

Please let us know you plan to attend so we can have little gifts ready for everyone!

Fee $6.00 per session

The first prize drawing for those in our foundation pieced block of the week program will be at the end of the day this Saturday!  Have you brought in your blocks to show - that’s how you get your name in the drawing! The goodie this time includes a 1 1/3 yard cut of Tula’s white Fairy Flakes backing (you can do so much with a piece that size!) and fat quarters of Valorie’s Grace!

The ByAnnie’s LQS Contest continues! In fact, they sent an email yesterday that pointed out the sweetest gift you can give your local quilt shop this Valentine’s Day is voting! To take it even further, they asked, “Already voted?” They then said “Share the love by reminding your friends and family to vote!” We couldn’t have said it any better! Please vote at LQSContest.com/vote. And a quick reminder, we are listed as Quilters Corner PA Finleyville PA. We love reading the stories you’ve shared during the contest!

Ok, so no surprise, there are gorgeous new fabrics everywhere in the shop!!! Coastal Calm, new from Cloud 9, is one of my favorites! The prints, offered in subtle ivory, gray, and blue, exhibit an elegant, timeless style. The organic cotton prints will be lovely stitched into garments, bags, and quilts! Fabric $14.30 per yard

Two guest owned sewing machines are currently offered for sale in the shop. In both cases, they are the type of machine many of us use on a daily basis. Both are truly beautiful, and deserve consideration if you want a trustworthy, fabulous sewing machine!

The pieces Ruth Ann’s students share are stunning, yours can be too!
