Despite his size, one petite, fluffy member of our family dictates much that happens in his house. After finishing work on Christmas, his owner decided to take him for a walk. Actually, it’s hard sometimes to tell just who is taking who for a walk… The fluffy one led the way right to his favorite stop. The picture of him firmly planted in front of the door to the place with the doggie ice cream is pretty cute. Seems he couldn’t read the “closed for the holiday” sign, and really didn’t believe what his owner was claiming. I figure he was so upset he needed to be carried all the way home.

I hope you get plenty of chances to enjoy your favorite places and people in the coming year,

Mary Beth

This Saturday (1-4-25) those in our 2024 beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will attend their last session in the series. During the meeting we will share news and event information, as well as the final block kit in the program. We will also pass out the final setting directions for the quilt and review those directions. Come with your finished block from last month and any questions you might have about the project. Can you believe we’ve already gotten to this point? Don’t worry, we have lots of new projects planned (and we’ll tell you about them Saturday) to keep you in stitches!

The weather forecast looks rather rotten for the next few days. Please give the shop a call before setting out when it looks questionable (and if there is no answer do not head our way until we do answer!). We try to let everyone know via email and social media when we need to close due to adverse weather conditions, but sometimes things get so bad that is not possible!

How about a quick look at another upcoming block of the month? I’m a huge fan of medallion style quilts. Evermore, a striking example of the style, proved irresistibly tempting! The piece will be worked over the course of eleven steps (offered one pattern per month for eleven months). We will begin this project with an optional introductory session on Saturday, January 18th at 2:30pm. During the session we will focus on how to select fabrics for the project, understanding how the information for the different sizes is presented (the piece can be made 53” x 53”, 72” x 72” or 106” x 106”!), and on some of the techniques that will be used to make the striking quilt.

We would love to have you join the program!

Fee ~ $10.00 registration fee and $3.50 per month for eleven months

At the moment there is a mountain of boxes waiting to be opened (as we inventory everything on our shelves!), but we were able to open the ones holding Northcott’s Stonehenge Retro Vibes days ago. The 19 pieces in the chic collection are worked in shades of charcoal, deep brown, rust, cream, and taupe. You will find straight lines, curving lines, circles and dots, all with a contemporary vibe, featured in the group. As I looked through a current decorating magazine I noticed a large, bold artwork in one of the photos - it looked like one of the prints - who knew we could be so trendy?! From bags to quilts - pieces made with them are going to be fantastic!!!

Fabric $13.99 per yard, backing $21.99 per yard
