Earlier in the week, a friend invited my youngest to a Chicago Blackhawks game. The tickets were from the University, but as she isn’t the biggest sports fan, she blocked emails about student section tickets long ago. I bet if the university offered sewing themed events she wouldn’t have blocked emails about them! Despite not being the biggest sports fan, she agreed to go to the “basketball” game. I can only imagine her friend’s tone when replying that the Blackhawks are a hockey team… Obviously, we are not a Blackhawk household. Despite her not being a Blackhawks fan (or sport fan in general), I could clearly hear her cheering enthusiastically in the videos she sent at the end of the game. Maybe she’ll end up being a hockey fan after all?! But not to worry - she already promised that the Penguins will always be her favorite team.
Hoping you find something different and fun to do in the coming week,
Mary Beth

It seems hard to believe, this Saturday (12-21-24) those in our applique Saturday Sampler group will meet for the last time this year. We will share the final blocks in the series, and review the information you will need to complete the project. Your “Wild Flowers” have looked great all year - can you imagine how wonderful the quilts will be?! We will also share all the details related to our new 2025 applique project - this time modern prints and colors meet designs inspired by traditional red and green applique quilts - lots of impact with bold shapes and colors!
QC Snow Day Surprise Kits!
Our exclusive 2025 Snow Day Surprise kits are now available! The 2025 version features a pieced design inspired by one of my favorite quilts from the late 1800’s. The kit for the 62” x 62” quilt, which includes fabric for the quilt top and binding, is offered in three colorways - winter (blues that range from teal to periwinkle), summer (bright colors in the hues of summer flowers) and historic (a range of red, gold, green, blue and black historic style prints). If you are reading carefully, you will notice something missing from the kit description - the pattern! The pattern is the surprise! You will receive it via email on the first day in 2025 that 6” or more of snow falls on Quilters Corner in Finleyville, PA! If we are lucky enough to dodge any major storms, you will receive the pattern on February 14th. In either case, you will find the project provides plenty of stitching to fill the colder days ahead.

Quilt kits are $44.95 this year before the snow piles up and the pattern is released (after the pattern release the kits will be offered at their regular price of $99.95). The optional, additional border kit, which will increase the size of your quilt to 86” x 86” is an additional $59.95. Kits may be purchased in the shop or online (online you will have the option for shop pickup, or the option to pay to have the kit shipped to you).
QC 2025 Saturday Sampler Projects!
Our Saturday Sampler programs have been fan favorites from the very beginning. For those who haven’t heard about the programs, let me explain. The samplers are created over the course of a year (it is amazing how much can be accomplished little by little!). Each month we present a new block kit (containing the block pattern and foreground fabrics), technique information, and share shop news, and show and tell in an “in shop” session. You pay just $5.00 plus tax for your first kit when you register for the series. It gets even better, if you return to your next scheduled session, with the block made for show and tell, your next kit is our gift (yup, it’s free!). And no worries, if you can’t make it to the session, or don’t get the block done, the kit is just $5.00 plus tax. This is a wonderful way to refine your quilting skills and a great way to meet new quilting friends! Register soon - these groups fill very quickly!!!

QC 2025 Pieced Saturday Sampler ~ Star Search
This quilt features twelve 12” x 12” pieced star blocks. Some of the blocks are easy to construct, others are more complex, making this the perfect learning opportunity! The blocks work together with a pieced setting to make an 84” x 84” quilt. The kits are being made in a historic version (inspired by a Winterthur museum print) or a black and white and bright version. The series begins at 9:00am Saturday January 25th or February 1st.

QC 2025 Applique Saturday Sampler
The applique series features twelve 15” x 15” blocks, four bonus blocks, sashing and borders inspired by applique designs from the mid to late 1800’s. The bold leaves, petals, and circles reminiscent of that era will be worked in more vibrant colors popular today. This one is tradition with a twist! The series begins at 9:00am on January 18th.

Year End Clearance!
December 26th - 31st
We spend the last week of each year getting ready for our dreaded inventory… Can you imagine inventory here? We count every yard of fabric, every book, pattern, spool of thread and notion - ugh!!! The only way the counting will go faster is if there is less to count! So, you will find some great deals on discontinued goodies during our clearance. Discontinued fabrics will be offered for $7.99 per yard (minimum one yard cut) or $5.99 per yard if you purchase all that remains, other discontinued items will be offered at 40%off. The stock will change as the days go by - hopefully there will be something you find tempting when you visit!

As usual, there are new fabrics all over the shop. The backings section is finally back to “stuffed”. Groups from several different companies arrived in the past few weeks. Be sure to take a look at the Northcott Stonehenge Ombre ones when you visit. The 108” wide prints feature what appears to be layers of stone in rich colors - including pieces in green, blue, purple, brown, or black. They are so gorgeous, both in pattern and quality, I have cut one to feature like a panel in my version of Villa Rosa’s Morning Spring. I need to get it finished so you can see what I mean!
Fabric $20.20 per yard
