I’ve mentioned in the past that our youngest likes to get to the airport plenty early when traveling as her backpack is usually searched. In the car on the way to the airport last week I suggested a good present from Santa might be TSA Precheck. She said she didn’t really think she needed it as she likes to arrive early, very early, at the airport. I figured once she dealt with that day's holiday flight she would change her mind… We jumped out at the curb and headed through the doors. The sign that greeted us listed the wait times for the different lines - TSA Precheck 7 minutes, regular line 2 minutes. Really?! When we got downstairs she barely had time to pull out her ID before she made it to the gate agent. I was still certain she was going to get slowed down as her bag was searched, even though she had left the makeup brush that usually causes the issues at home. Nope, she didn’t get stopped, even though she was carrying a container of cheesecake and a band hoagie! Car to airport tram in just five minutes - I’ll never be able to convince her she needs Precheck now!

Hopefully you have smooth sailing on all your adventures this week,

Mary Beth

On Saturday (12-7-24) those in our beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. We will share shop news, piecing tips, and the next block kit in the series (only one more after this one - can you believe it?!). We will also touch on some of the finishing information you need to complete your beautiful quilts, and share just a bit of information about the project for the coming year.

QC Market Party

Saturday ~ December 7th

Market Lecture ~ 11:00am

There were wonderful things shown at Quilt Market - we can’t wait to share a glimpse with you! On Saturday you will find new goodies throughout the shop, including new books, patterns (like the Villa Rosa cards shown here), fabrics, and displays. Consider registering for the 11:00am lecture when we will share an actual look at the Quilt Market show floor. The vibrant, colorful scene we found in Houston is already influencing the shop, with much more to come!

2025 QC Block of the Month Premiere

Saturday ~ December 14th ~ 9:30am

We started offering block of the month programs the third year we were in business. They were such a hit, we offered them the next year, and every year since! Their popularity stems from the amount that can be accomplished when we work little by little over the course of months, or a year. You won’t be surprised to learn, we have spectacular new block of the month options for 2025. From our Saturday Sampler programs, to club quilts, special pieces from favorite fabric manufacturers, and even a new block of the week, the projects are incredible. Consider joining us at 9:30am on December 14th to learn all the details! Please pre-register for this lecture style presentation - we need to be sure there are handouts and seats for everyone!

You might want to take a quick look at your 2024 QC date book - there are still several offers you probably don’t want to miss… Also, be sure to get a 2025 QC date book. Like the 2024 version, it shares details about all that is going on in the shop during the beginning of the year, and includes several coupons. Date book $1.99

There are lots of fun gift items in the shop at the moment. From the smallest (nifty sewing themed coasters) to bigger options (like the incredible large round baskets made by women in Ghana) there may be something Santa should snag for you! If Santa can’t decide what would be best, a QC gift certificate is always a perfect fit!!!

Ugh! If you are working your Holiday Block Box blocks each day you may have already come across a little oops… The last piece you cut for block 3, piece F, should be cut 1 1/4” x 4 1/2”. Even if you cut it as written, the fix is a simple trim on the right edge of the block - making the petite block 4 1/2” x 4 1/2” raw edge to raw edge.

The weather here took a pretty chilly turn this morning. We do our best to share inclement weather information with everyone via social media and email if the conditions impact shop hours. If things look questionable to you, please call the shop before you set out. If there isn’t an answer we may have been unable to make it to the shop! And, please wear your boots!

Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
