Thanksgiving is being celebrated as a week-long event in our house this year, all our sweeties coming and going at different times. There are some serious advantages to the arrangement. Obviously, we can focus on each individual a bit more, but that's not where it ends. Our younger son has turned out to be a very good cook (as have our other sweeties, but he’s here at the moment). As he was working his creative plan for this evening, I offered to do the completely innocuous job of getting the broccoli ready to cook. He informed me there really wasn’t a reason to peel the stems and chop the head up. Really?... He boiled water, turned the whole piece upside down and stuck it in the water. Am I the only person who has never seen broccoli  cooked this way?! I swear we are never having it cooked any other way again - do you realize how much more sewing I can do if I only use this method?!!!

Wishing you a wonderful week complete with family, friends and new ideas,

Mary Beth

On Saturday (11-23-24) those in our end of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. We will share information about shop events and new sewing goodies, and then move on to show and tell, and the next block in the series. There is lots of information to share as we near the end of the project - I can hardly believe how fast the time has passed!

Also this Saturday, but at 12:00pm, we will offer a special pieced border session for those involved in our 2024 pieced Saturday Sampler program. This optional addition to the quilt features pieced fan shapes. In the session we will review what you need to know to make the optional pieced border. We will discuss the fabrics needed, and the techniques used to work the border. Please pre-register for the session so we have enough pattern handouts for everyone.

QC Stash Management Club

Saturday ~ November 23rd ~ 10:30am

Don’t forget to bring show and tell, things you have made with your fabric collection, to the meeting this Saturday! Seeing what everyone has made is so very inspiring! We will share new ideas for organizing your space, and a new pattern during the session - these meetings are always fun - can’t wait to see you!

Our 2024 QC Holiday Block boxes are nearly sold out. Yes, that is weeks before they are ready for pickup! The petite boxes, ready for pick up the day after Thanksgiving, contain twenty four little packets. Each packet has a pattern and foreground fabric for a 4” x 4” pieced block, and a little treat. Some of the treats are sweet, others will help you with your quilting, and some will share directions for additional projects (we would hate for you to be bored!). At the very back of the box you will find setting directions, but of course you can use your tiny blocks however you wish! Please order very soon to avoid disappointment!  $39.95

Market Party

QC Fall Market Party

Saturday ~ December 7th

Market Lecture ~ 11:00am

A quick trip to Houston for fall Quilt Market has left us with loads of ideas for new projects, shop samples, and events! By the first week in December we will have many of the new goodies in place. It will be well worth a trip to see what is new in the quilting world (consider pre-registering for the lecture - it’s great fun to see pictures of the Houston displays). There will be little goodies shared, and tons of inspiration - hope you can make it!

2025 Block of Month Premiere

Saturday ~ December 14th ~ 9:30am

We started offering block of the month programs the third year we were in business. They were such a hit, we offered them the next year, and every year since! Their popularity stems from the amount that can be accomplished when we work little by little over the course of months, or a year. You won’t be surprised to learn, we have spectacular new block of the month options for 2025. From our Saturday Sampler programs, to club quilts, special pieces from favorite fabric manufacturers, and even a new block of the week, the projects are incredible. Consider joining us the second Saturday in December to learn all the details! I can’t wait to work on the Field and Furrows quilt shown here - talk about a gorgeous batik quilt!

Please pre-register for the premiere.

We figure everyone is already busy preparing for next Thursday. Please note - in order to be sure goodies are ready for our families we have shortened hours on Wednesday, November 27th - we will be open 10:00am-3:00pm.

Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
