Earlier in the week my youngest finished working for the day, planning to relax for a bit by chatting with friends. Frustration set in as she picked up her phone, only to find it dead. It had been plugged in all day, so she feared the worst. She lamented the phone could be broken, or the charger was shot, or… As I explained hers was a fairly new phone, I glanced in her direction. Her head was on the counter and the charger cord was held aloft in her hand. We’ve had lots of company in the last few days, which means lots of phone chargers. Not all of them are actually plugged into the outlet…

I think in the coming week we should plan for all issues to have the easiest possible solutions - far less stress that way!

Wishing you peace and piecing,

Mary Beth

You aren’t going to believe this - the road work continues on route 88 near the shop. Rumor has it they did a portion of the work incorrectly and are redoing it! Please know how much we appreciate your patience with the situation - you guys are far more patient than I am!!!

This Saturday (9-21-24) those in our Saturday Sampler applique program will meet at 9:00am. During the session we will share shop news and the next kit in the Wild Flowers series. Can you believe we are already on block #9?! We will also begin discussing the setting triangles for the project. Lots to see and learn - hope you can make it.

Also, this coming Thursday (9-26-24) is the next meeting of our Simple Whatnots club. At 10:30 that morning we will share a new Kim Diehl pattern and instructions for making the piece. Her tiny Zigging and Zagging piece is the one this month - lots of Flying Geese, perfect for this time of year!

A new issue of our subscription newsletter, And Sew On, has just been published. If you are a subscriber, there is a copy here in the shop for you. We’ve tucked copies in envelopes for those who have left them. They will go to the post office later today. In the issue you will find information about things happening at Quilters Corner, as well as quilting supply reviews, coupons, and a pattern for a cute, small pumpkin stack quilt. Please note - you may receive a version of the issue that lists our previous hours in the heading. While we wish we could return to those shop hours, our current hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday through Saturday.

Jelly Roll Day at QC

Saturday ~ September 21st

It seems like Jelly Rolls have been part of the quilting landscape forever, but that just isn’t so. Moda first introduced the concept, a single collection of forty coordinated 2 1/2” wide strips packaged in a cute roll, at fall Quilt Market in 2006. The items found their way to shops the following year, and were a huge hit right from the start. Several years back, an annual Jelly Roll celebration made its debut. This Saturday, the 21st, we’ll join the worldwide event. Stop in that day to see our version of two of the 2024 Moda Jelly Roll projects. We will be there to answer questions about the pieces and to share a free pattern for whichever one you wish! And of course, there will be Jelly Rolls too…

QC Block Box Sew Along Show and Tell!

Saturday ~ September 28th ~ 12:00pm

At the beginning of the year we offered a Sew Along using the Quilt Builder Card Deck 3. We worked straight through the box, stitching two blocks each week (or as many as each member wished to stitch!). We are starting to see some pretty marvelous quilts made during the sew along and thought members might want to see what others in the group created. Consider joining us on the 28th - bring what you’ve done, even if you haven’t managed to finish your piece!

Please pre-register by September 24th as we will have tiny gifts for everyone.

New fabrics continue to roll in. Be sure to check out Carmels and Creams, new from Marcus, and KT Favorite Backgrounds, new from Moda, when you next visit. Both groups include wonderful tone on tone cream color prints. They are so very tempting, but don’t photograph all that well, so you really will need to see them when you visit!

Moda prints $12.99 per yard, Marcus prints $13.30 per yard
