Dear Friends,
Our youngest finds that arriving at the airport with plenty of time to spare cuts down on the stress of flying. Several weeks ago, she faced lines down the hallways as she left from Pittsburgh. She finds the lines to be the stressful part, especially as her bag seems to be searched every time. We’ve tried to convince her to leave the Harry Potter makeup brushes at home… While the wand shape is quite charming, it must appear suspicious on airport screens. She flew from a different city this week, a smaller city. We still headed to the airport 2 1/2 hours early, even though it was a 15 minute drive and there wasn’t any traffic. We waved goodbye as she entered the airport and began the long serpentine slog through the TSA line. Well, there wasn’t actually a line - she was the only one, not another person in line! Even so, some things never change, her bag was searched. This time the makeup brushes weren’t the issue. The item causing the problem was the stress ball she packed to deal with the situation!
Wishing you a low stress week,
Mary Beth

We have great news - the Three Rivers Quilt Show is on! Renovations to their previous location mean a change of venue - thank goodness they have been able to find a new location! Folk & Lore is the newest Moda collection to hit the shop. The prints, from Fancy That Design House, are inspired by stories from times past, with a bit of a modern bent. Stylized flowers, unique geometric designs, and even petite animals play out in the warm and cool colors of the group. We are waiting for the arrival of the line’s panel print, so we can begin stitching several of the great pieces designed for the group. These contemporary classics are not to be missed!

Mega Star
Friday ~ September 20th ~ 10:30am-2:30pm
I have been intrigued by traditional Lone Star quilts for years. Diamond after diamond, stitched one to the next, sometimes with perfect points, other times not - but always striking. Brigitte Heitland has released a new pattern that turns the old fashioned design into a contemporary stunner. In class you will turn 2 1/2” strips into the diamonds that make up the Mega Star. We will cover cutting, pinning, stitching, and pressing techniques that will help you create a star that lays flat, and showcases beautifully matched seams!
Fee $28.00 (pattern and fabric required - supply list will be shared when you register for class)

Machine Applique
Saturday ~ September 21st ~ 11:00am-2:00pm
Ruth Ann is a master applique artist and teacher (her version of the first block in our 2024 applique series, shown here, is a marvelous example of her work!). In this technique class she will focus on teaching the details of the technique as you create small sample pieces - everything from machine set up, to the required supplies, to a range of stitches that can be used for the technique. The pieces Ruth Ann’s students share are stunning, yours can be too!
Fee $24.00 (the supply list for the class will be shared when you register)
