Dear Friends,
We love spending time in the mountains each summer. Our youngest enjoys hiking, kayaking, and all the creatures she encounters during our stay. Well, almost all… As we sat quietly reading the first night, she asked what was making the soft pitter-patter sound. Like a good mom, I assured her it was probably some tiny creature on the roof. She was good with that explanation, until she saw a mouse run across the corner. She moves pretty fast, and almost silently, when need be - she was standing on the couch before I even realized what was happening. Several nights later she fell asleep while reading on that very same couch. This time it wasn’t a sound that woke her, but the mouse on her shoulder! So much for a relaxing vacation - I’m fairly certain she didn’t sleep again until we made it back to Pittsburgh!
Hoping all the little furry creatures you encounter this week are designs on fabric,
Mary Beth

QC Pillowcase Race!!!
August 3rd - 17th
I’m busy gathering fun, coordinating prints to stitch into pillowcases over the next two weeks. Have you been getting ready? Now that I think about it, I realize you might not even know about the race… During our yearly race, we create pillowcases which will be shared with children being treated for life threatening conditions at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. The pillowcases bring a little bit of color to what can be a very bleak space. As with other races, there are prizes to be won, but the best prize is knowing the difference your stitches will make in a young person's day. Consider revving up your machine, and racing along with us! Pillowcases made from 100% cotton, child friendly prints can be dropped at the shop at any point during the race!

Villa Rosa Day at QC
Saturday ~ August 10th
Since founding her company in 2010, our friend Pat Fryer has grown Villa Rosa into a true force in the quilting industry. Her concept, an entire pattern offered on a single postcard, has been copied by others, but not with her flair and dedication to the success of the idea. In the shop next Saturday you will find a selection of new Villa Rosa pattern cards, newly created models of some of the patterns, and even kits for others. The celebration wouldn’t be complete without a little gift - you can probably guess what the gift will be!!!

Ugh! I can’t believe I need to share this information again this week… If you’ve visited recently, it is likely you sat in a bit of traffic near the shop. The water pipes are being replaced down the middle of our road. That means at any given moment we may, or more likely may not, have water! We apologize - we are currently unlikely to have an operational bathroom. Talk about frustrating!!!!
Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
