Dear Friends,

I’m sure you’ve heard the one that goes,”If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it…”. How about a new version? If you walk on the trail in the morning, but forget your watch, do the steps still count?! Or better still, one from a friend. If you look at your watch, which says you have walked well over 16,000 steps, and you know you have been sitting in one place, do they count? How about if your watch has confused crocheting with walking?! Yup, her watch counted her arm movements as walking. I’m considering taking up crocheting at this point - it may be the only way I can beat my family members' step counts!

Wishing you a week filled with enjoyable “exercise”,

Mary Beth

On Saturday (6-1-24) those in our beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. We will share shop news, and show and tell first. Next up will be your new kit and a bit of technique instruction. This time we will look at doing a portion of the block in a manner that is different from the pattern - always good to have options! Don’t forget to bring your completed block from last month - they are so much fun to see!

QC Spring Market Party!

Saturday ~ June 1st

Market lecture ~ 11:00am

At the beginning of the month we traveled to the H&H show in Chicago. The trade show was packed with a vibrant array of thread, yarn, fabric, and notions. On Saturday we will be ready to give you a look at some of the new things that have already arrived (like the funky, snarky project bags showcased at the front of the shop!), and we will share a look at things still to come during our Market Party lecture. Door prizes and little treats will round out the day - we would love to have you stop in!

There is no fee for the lecture, but pre-registration is required (so we have enough goodies for everyone!).

QC “By the Bolt” returns!

You will find bolts of fabric in a rather different shop spot during the warmer months. On sunny days the bench out front features an array of prints offered at an amazing price - $7.99 per yard, or just $5.99 per yard if you purchase all that remains on the bolt! The bolts are well worth a look - first quality, wonderful fabric perfect for any project!

Some fabric collections are so stunning we only answer yes when asked if we are interested in the prints (with no thought to which ones we would like, because we would like all of them!). Valorie Well’s newest group falls in this category. Her Grace group is based on her intricate woodblock prints - each a true work of art. She began working on the group with woodblocks she had already created and then moved to new designs. The group evolved into an exercise to grant herself grace, the journey led to a renewed sense of self worth and confidence. The combination of rich color and line works alone, or mixed with other prints - truly inspiring!

Fabric $13.35 per yard See these fabrics online....

One way to use the exquisite pieces is in the I Am Worthy of Grace quilt. The designs for the 56” x 70”  quilt, whose blocks were designed by Valorie’s family and friends, are available on the Free Spirit website. Each designer reflects on gratitude and grace at the beginning of their portion of the quilt - maybe good for all of us to reflect on as we stitch.

Verona ~ Block of the Month

The beautiful quilt just inside our front door, pieced by our friend Heather, is being offered as a block of the month. Verona, featuring the Juliette fabric collection, will be worked over eight months. A varying number of 9” x 9” finished blocks are pieced each month (isn’t it amazing how the prints and colors have been used to create the diagonal line that flows over the piece?!) and then combined with sashing and cornerstones into a stunning quilt! The fabric kits and first pattern will be available beginning this Saturday. Most of the kits are already spoken for, but two remain - one could be yours…

Fee $224.95 (includes fabric for quilt top and binding, and eight monthly patterns)
