Dear Friends,

We had great fun taking your quilts to Comfort Cases earlier this month. You guys are truly amazing - you created 85 quilts (in a month!) for the organization that provides filled backpacks to children entering the foster care system. We were truly impressed with the organization, and appreciated the opportunity to volunteer for a bit while we were there. When we were done we did what any fabric lover would do, we looked for the closest quilt shop! We were a pretty good size crowd by the time we entered Capital Quilts. The four year old in the group made himself right at home. He picked out bolts he wanted, directed his aunt to carry the ones he thought were too heavy, and then went to the cutting table. A most gracious staff member handed his fat quarters over as she cut them - he let her know he would fold them himself… He shook each one out, laid it on the floor, folded it in half, in half again, in half yet again,... I swear he has never seen us fold fat quarters in the shop, yet he got them almost exactly the same as those we fold. Do you think it could be a genetic thing?! I figure I probably have to wait until he is at least six before hiring him!

Wishing you fun, surprising times with family and friends this week,

Mary Beth

This Saturday (5-25-24) those in our end of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. We’ll share information about things going on in the shop, and then we will hand out the new block kit. You probably won’t be surprised to hear, I’m going to show you how to do a portion of this block differently from the pattern - there is always something new to learn! Don’t forget your finished blocks - they are so much fun to see!

Saturday will also feature our next Stash Management session. Bring things made with your fabric collection to show, and also bring your best organization tip from this month. We’ll share shop news, and a new pattern that will help you put your quilting goodies to use. Lots of inspiration and laughter in every session!

QC Spring Market Party!

Saturday ~ June 1st

Market lecture ~ 11:00am

At the beginning of the month we traveled to the H&H show in Chicago. The trade show was packed with a vibrant array of thread, yarn, fabric, and notions (I managed to resist the oh so tempting yarn!). By next Saturday we will be ready to give you a look at some of the new things that have already arrived (like the funky, snarky project bags!), and we will share a look at things still to come during our Market Party lecture. Door prizes and little treats will round out the day - we would love to have you stop in!

There is no fee for the lecture, but pre-registration is required by 5-30-24 (so we have enough goodies for everyone!)

We’ve matched up copies of the All Mid Atlantic Shop Hop magazine with guest pre-orders (if you pre-ordered a copy you should have received a call to let you know yours is here). A few remain now that we’ve gotten them organized. If you would like to snag one, stop in soon - they’re wonderful, and going fast!

Tilda Trunk Show info ~

So this is a weird one. Our scheduled Tilda trunk show did some traveling, but not to us! It is still scheduled to arrive, but the revised dates are June 1st to 12th. I am so sorry to make everyone wait a little longer. I honestly believe it will be worth the wait, and the visit, to see the Jubilee fabric collection in action!

New fabrics are tucked everywhere in the shop - are you surprised?! How about a quick look at just a couple groups?!

Our newest Ruby Star prints are from the Dog Park collection by Sarah Watts. We received the whimsical pieces in cream, gold, brown and rust. From tiny paw prints, to dogs under the park trees, and pieces that feature stylized versions of some of your favorite breeds - they’re irresistible! One of the prints is even a cotton/linen blend - perfect for garments and bags, or just mixed with the others in a pooch themed project!

Fabric - cotton $12.99, cotton/linen $14.99 See these fabrics online...

For something really different, consider the newest toweling! The delightful, retro, holiday themed designs are printed on 18” wide, towel weight cotton with two finished edges. We started cutting from the rolls the instant they came out of the boxes - won’t they make great table runners and placemats, to say nothing of towels?!

Fabric ~ $8.99 per yard
