Greetings!
My youngest was in a Zoom meeting last week when one of her friends asked where she was. He commented that she wasn’t in our kitchen (talk about observant…). She shared that she was skiing with friends. His response, “Oh, skiing with the ladies of Quilters Corner?”, stopped her in her tracks. I’ve decided he is now my favorite of her friends. He pays attention when she talks, figured out that she feels like all the quilting ladies are her friends, and he thinks we are all in good enough shape to ski! I’m pretty sure she corrected his error, but for a moment there we were all pretty cool…

This Saturday, January 23rd, we begin our 2021 QC Saturday Sampler applique program. The program’s quilt, Fanciful Flora and Fauna, features thirty-six petite applique designs. In the planned quilt, each one of the 6” x 6” applique squares then becomes the center of a pieced 12” block. Your monthly program packets will include the fabrics used for the plants and animals in the blocks (you add background and setting fabrics), patterns, and notes sharing details of the things happening in the shop. I can’t wait to show you the first pieces on Saturday! I almost forgot - yes, this is the program where you pay $5.00 plus tax for your first kit, head home to work the pieces, and then return the following month on the appropriate day to show off your work, and pick up the next kit for free! If you don’t have time to complete the blocks, or return on a different day, the next packet is only $5.00 plus tax. Because we have modified the program to meet current pandemic restrictions, those that live farther away can easily participate this year. Your packets will be mailed each month - you pay $5.00 (plus tax if you live in PA) and shipping each month. We would love to have you join the fun! |

I have to share a message we received from American Patchwork and Quilting. They want to tell you thanks a million! I know when they began their pillowcase project they had no idea how long it would take to make a million pillowcases, but with your help (and help from others all over the world) they’ve actually surpassed the goal. Please know we are continuing right along with our pillowcase making efforts (the need for cheerful pillowcases for children being treated for life threatening illnesses never seems to lessen), but it certainly is the moment to celebrate all you’ve done - thank you!!! |

A new Quilts & More issue just arrived. Packed between the covers you will find 18 projects, all with a contemporary bent, and several articles. The skill builder articles are invaluable, but I think I am most thrilled with the “Start a New Year of Sewing Off Right” one this time. It covers 10 simple tips for beginning the new year “refreshed, inspired and excited”. I’m going to work my way through all ten! The issue will be the first we use as a “text” for our QC Christmas Club this year (we will share the different way we plan to offer the club in 2021 in an upcoming letter!), but I can’t wait until then to start stitching - work on “Place in my Heart” begins tonight! I plan to make a runner, rather than the placemats shared in the magazine - you’ll have to watch to see how it turns out!

We are currently working on creating kits for several block-by-block programs that begin in the next few weeks. Fabrics for “My Favorite Color is Moda” are almost all here (a couple boxes still seem to be wandering around the middle of the country…). The spectacular sampler is a field of pieced blocks, in a range of sizes, and coordinated solid colors. We are offering kits for the 81” x 99” quilt in four different color combinations. Consider ordering Primrose Garden, Coastal Cool, Tropical Getaway or Cookie Tin for your kit for the year long sew-a-long. Your kit will contain the fabrics needed for the quilt top and binding, and the pattern booklet. You stitch this one at your own pace, with encouragement, and little updates from Moda (via social media), and us (in monthly letters) along the way. I adored their Quilt Pink Sampler in the fall, I know I’m going to love this one, too!

Gorgeous spring-like fabrics are bursting from every box we open - thank goodness - it makes it so much easier to pretend it’s not winter! Those that just arrived from Michael Miller are truly special. The small collection features magnolias in all their glory. The star of the group is an edge to edge print that changes in scale, and density as you move across the width of the fabric. Other all over designs, featuring more magnolias and leaves, round out the group. Soft shades of blue, rose, gold and green infuse each piece with sophisticated elegance - you just must take a look when you next visit!

Please note ~ Our shop hours are currently 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Saturday. All state and federal guidelines are being followed - a mask is required to shop inside, hand sanitizer is provided just inside the door, social distancing rules are being followed, and there is not a restroom available. All in all - we are glad to operate with these restrictions in order to welcome you into the shop.
