Some days I’m positive I’m the only one putting things together backwards, and then having to tear them apart… Earlier this week my sweetie spent an entire day working on one of our cars. It seemed like he was in the garage for a pretty long time, considering what he was working on… As it turns out, if you put the brake pads on backwards it’s much more work to take apart than a seam or two! To say nothing of the fact that it wrecks some parts that are more expensive than a few pieces of fabric. I suppose it’s good to know we all get things wrong side out once in a while - so glad I’m usually the one who does in our house!!!

Our 2020 Saturday Sampler programs wrapped up last Saturday. Now is the time to check to be sure you have everything you need to complete the projects. Do you have all the block patterns required (13 in the pieced sampler, 12 plus 4 bonus blocks in the applique), the setting directions, and fabrics to coordinate with your splendid blocks? At this point we store things from previous programs for only a few weeks, as the packets for new programs are already being created and filed! Speaking of new programs, have you registered for our 2021 block-of- the-month offerings? There are both pieced (Bright Hopes) and appliqued versions (Fanciful Flora and Fauna) of our Saturday Samplers, as well as other tempting projects. I’ve just begun work on the first block of our version of one of those programs. The first Bliss block, designed by Barbara Persing, has been great fun to stitch. Be sure to check out the contemporary applique block when you stop in! Look on our counter for a flyer detailing all the other block-of-the-month programs beginning in early 2021 (and keep an eye out for additional programs throughout the year!). |

QC Fat Quarter Fling
Saturday ~ January 16th ~ 10:00am-4:00pm
We are excited to be planning for this year’s version of our Fat Quarter Fling! At this event every pre-cut, in stock fat quarter is just $1.33! Yes, every one, even those in stacks! We have been cutting, folding and arranging for several weeks, and will continue to work at it till next Saturday! Please keep in mind, we will be following all state and local restrictions during the Fling, as we have since the pandemic began. Those include adhering to occupancy limits, and the requirement that you wear a face mask properly over your nose and mouth when in the shop. We hope to offer a limited version of the Fling online, as well - please watch for details next week.

Beautiful spring fabrics have started to flow into the shop - they make the gray days seem a little more cheerful! I can’t resist sharing just one of the newest collections from Moda. The prints that make up Moody Bloom are absolutely gorgeous! These are the sister prints to Laura Muir’s previous collection, Brightly Bloom (which was a huge hit here!). The digital prints are based on her original watercolor artwork. Each design, from simple brushstrokes, to stunning flowers and fronds, is worked in saturated clear color. Not only do the prints vary in color, but the images also vary in size, and are offered on light or dark background. You need to visit soon to snag some of these beauties!!!

I forgot to mention something as I shared details about our 2021 Snow Day Surprise quilt several weeks ago (and since I am mentioning it now, you know I’m answering a question we have been asked several times!). Yes, we will gladly make you a custom kit for our 2021 design after the snow hits and the pattern is revealed, but it will cost the regular price, $81.95, rather than the pre-snow $39.95! Please note ~ Our shop hours are currently 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Saturday. All state and federal guidelines are being followed - a mask is required to shop inside, hand sanitizer is provided just inside the door, social distancing rules are being followed, and there is not a restroom available. All in all - we are glad to operate with these restrictions in order to welcome you into the shop.
