Greetings!

You guys are all so gracious. You always tell me everything I make comes out wonderful - not true… I used Zen Chic Chill prints to piece a lovely rendition of the Hollow Star pattern. I loved the top, and worked out a fairly complex plan for machine quilting it. Every line I quilted needed to be marked with a hera so I could stitch in the correct spots. I was a little way into the quilting when I decided it might not be coming out like I had hoped, but I kept going because I wanted to get it done for the From Our Table displays… If you’ve visited recently, you’ll know that it isn’t to be found in the shop. It’s hanging over the chair in my kitchen. It’s honestly awful! The quilting is terribly distracting. Jill suggested I might like it better if I take out the quilting in the middle of the stars and replace it with something different. I’m thinking it would make a great cat bed liner...

I went right on to other projects that turned out great, but you need to know that things don’t always work out as planned. It’s ok to move on. The failed project will have taught you something, even if it is to stop if you think it isn’t quite right!

Wishing you plenty of time to work on your holiday gifts (and enough time to rework the plan if needed!).

See you soon,
Mary Beth
As the pandemic guidelines are modified, we continue to offer you the opportunity to step inside the shop, as long as you are able to follow the posted requirements. Those requirements include - a properly worn facemask, use of hand sanitizer after entering, social distancing must be practiced, store capacity limit will be followed, and there is no rest room. If any of these cause an issue, we will be happy to act as your personal shopper, or we can fill orders by phone for curbside pickup or to be mailed (normal postage rates apply). We never dreamed we would be in this position, but we hope you can still visit our colorful little world, and that we can still share the items you need, and those you want!
Our shop hours are currently 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Saturday. All state and federal guidelines are being followed - a mask is required to shop inside, hand sanitizer is provided just inside the door, social distancing rules are being followed, and there is not a restroom available. All in all - we are glad to operate with these restrictions in order to welcome you into the shop.
Our 2020 From Our Table display is coming to an end. This Saturday, November 21st, is the last day to bring donations for the local food pantry in order to garner ballots to vote for your favorite display. We will total the votes on Monday, and award a kit for the winning table topper to the person whose name is drawn from the entries. If you can, stop in next week to see who made each display - the maker's name replaces the number on Monday. Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s displays - the makers, and all of you who donated to the food pantry. They are so very grateful!
This Saturday, November 21st, we will have packets ready for our Saturday Sampler Applique program, and for our Barb and Friends members. While not the same as meetings, the packets contain the info you need to continue working on these great projects. We are getting ready to announce plans for our 2021 programs - watch for details in future newsletters. I think you are going to love the new ones!
There are some wonderful gift items in the shop at the moment. Things that I would love to find in my stocking… You might have Santa check out the little, handmade, wooden stars and sewing trays Darlene is offering, or the fun embroidered towels she is known for. Or maybe he should look at the Shibori scarves, or the Measure Up runners, or the fun little notions that would make great stocking stuffers. I almost forgot to mention, gift certificates are always a good idea!
New - QC Holiday Blocks in a Box ~ Advent 2020
Do you remember the Advent calendars of old? Ours were pretty, large “cards” with little windows that were opened each day from December 1st to 24th. Behind each little door hid a tiny piece of candy. We were good and never opened the door early - did you? How about a quilters version of this childhood favorite? This year we designed 24 petite pieced block patterns (each is just 4” x 4”) that will be packaged in little numbered bags, along with a little piece of fabric to include in the block, and other tiny treasures (little presents like pattern sheets, added fabrics, little ornaments and sweets!).You add background fabric, scraps and setting fabrics to the mix (two different settings have been designed for the blocks). I have had great fun testing the blocks - our hope is they will be a marvelous little daily distraction for you as the holidays approach. Please pre-register - boxes will be available for pick up beginning November 27th.

QC Holiday Block Box $24.99 (includes patterns, little pieces of holiday fabric to get you started, and little gifts!)
Check your 2020 QC date book to find out how we are marking Pins and Needles Day on November 27th. This might be the perfect time to remind you that our 2021 QC date book is now available. The date book includes information about some of the things we have planned for 2021(from our Fat Quarter Fling, to Repeat Day, Double Day and lots of other celebrations), and coupons just for date book owners. They make great little gifts…
QC date book $1.99
Just one quick new fabric share - lots of other new groups arrived, but I figure you’re done reading at this point…
Benartex just shipped Ballet to us. The pieces are a sweet, light pink accented with a bit of pearlescence. If you have been waiting for the right prints to use to make a project for the dancer in your crowd - these are the ones!
Fabric $11.90 per yard
